I taught that same thing to my kindergartens in Science class. We learned it as a coattail though!; 7:16 PM
"Sunshine" said...: It's actually a foxtail that has gone to seed. It's green in the summer, but it's kind of straw colored now. Never heard of coattail--maybe it's a regional thing (different name for the same grass)?

I have, however, heard of cattail, which looks similar but I think the seeds are brown, rather than green or yellowish.; 7:24 PM
